Great printer for the most part

Strengths: Price very reasonable, Excellent quality printing, fast color & super fast b/w printing. Duplexing works great & minimal paper jams.

Weakness: Samsung support terrible, comes with only 2000 pg toners (new ones print 5000 pages), Won't print charts from MS Works 6.0, 7.0 or 8. Very heavy unit.

At first I thought this was the best deal ever for a color laser printer, but I had a problem first with the print quality deteriorating and the pages would have a light gray tint to them compared to when it was new. Contacted tech support regarding this by phone and tech seemed to be very unknowledgeable and actually somewhat non-caring. This became especially apparent after he told me I would...

Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer

Strengths: Color, Duplex, Price

Weakness: Noise Bulky

So far this is a great printer. Setup was straightforward and the print quality is very good for B&W documents. Color quality is sufficient for a 90% of what I do and it makes a decent printing of a color photo but not archive quality. It's met or exceed my expecations for a $400 color printer. ($450 at Frys plus $50 mail in rebate (Fry's only) Toner life, letter feeder, and similar haven't...

Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer

Strengths: Decent color, duplexing

Weakness: On board display doesn't work to expectations.

During the time that we have owned the CLP-500, we have had to replace all toners, with no indication from the printer that replacement was needed. We also have an error in reference to the waste toner being full or not installed. This seems to be a false error, but we cannot utilize the printer because of the error. Samsung internet web support is virtually non-existent.

Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer

Strengths: color printing at laser quality and it's cheap.

Weakness: take times to warm up. bulky.

a perfect choice to choose since it's economic for small business, students, and home business. home networking is great, fast response but slow to warm up.

Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer

Strengths: Included automatic duplexer, reasonably priced, and it has nice color output!

Weakness: Poor Customer Service

I tried to ask a simple question concerning the 128MB memory upgrade. Since I did not purchase directly from Samsung, tech support refuses to answer my question. My question was whether the added memory would be reflected in the printer's configuration report. A simple yes or no would have sufficed. I eventually got an answer, but not from Samsung. Otherwise I am relatively happy with the printer...

Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer

Strengths: Great image/text quality, realatively cheap, basic duplex, high speed

Weakness: none

It is really excellent color laser printer that I have ever met. As a result of use for 5 months, I'm very satisfied with text/image quality and price.

Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer

Strengths: Color Laser with built-in duplexer.

Weakness: Performance deteriorates quickly with time. Unresponsive technical support.

After 1 month this printer became quite noisy, but Samsung offered no help. After 3 months the print quality was poor on any duplexed documents. After repeated phone calls, Samsung replaced several major components but the raster printing problem remains. My last alternative is to accept a refurbished replacement from Samsung since they claim to have no new units. AVOID SAMSUNG JUNK AT ALL COSTS....

Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer

Strengths: color printer; great price; works with Windows

Weakness: false advertising; does not work with Macintosh

Tech support admitted Samsung no longer supports Mac, and they will not be updating their drivers The Samsung printer drivers for this printer corrupted OS X printing features (CUPS) requiring OS reinstall. Do not buy this printer if you plan on using it with a Mac.

Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer

Strengths: Price

Weakness: Wont print on glossy photo paper

Moderatley happy with the assembly and it produces a 5 out of 10 print quality on regular paper, BUT put photo paper in and it screws up leaving blotches and scratches on the printout, that you can only clear from further prints by printing some test pages.

Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer

Strengths: I love this printer!!! It is quiet and I have had no problems with it.

I called their sales department (800)921-1202 and talked to them about the MAC issues. Apparently NO printers work on MAC that are GDI based printers. They explained to me that a GDI based printer spools on the local computer (MAC Can'tdo this) and the new CLP-550 has the Post Script module and works great on the MAC Network. I get tired of reading reviews for great products where a person...
