Everything about this lcd is what lcds should be. First of all, there was not one dead or stuck pixel, plus theres awsome customer service if that is needed. There is no noticeable ghosting at all in games as fast as UT2k3&4 or Doom3, and once calibrated, the colors are more than accurate enough for photoshopping or rendering. Playing wow with it now and colors are lifelike, vibrant and smooth....
Strengths: Non Existent Ghosting, Good with FPS and DVD movies, looks great, flexible mounting, cabling for DVI and DB 15, Three year warranty.
Weakness: Price, Software Issues, no switching from one computer to another.
This is all I ever wanted in a screen with only a few exceptions. It's a good thing that samsung two separate inputs (DVI amd DB15), but the didnt put a toggle switch for two separate computers. A KVM switch with DVI capability must be expensive, if one exists yet. The software interface is great, however after using to provided programs, i had problems keeping the settings. Pivot program...
Strengths: Very sharp screen, Great contrast and viewing angle, Pivot and Height Adjustment are Nice, DVI and Analog inputs,
Weakness: Some question on spec. for response rate, but no ghosting observed, ATI All-in-Wonder TV tuner works great in landscape mode but not in Portrait view. This is likely a problem with the Pivot Software.
I bought a 173P from www.bcd2000.com on Nov. 24; received it on Nov. 26. They have a 0 defective pixels policy. (See their web site for details.) The 173P is spectacular! Pivot, etc., is very easy to use. Looks like they changed the spec. to 25ms response. I called Samsung; they said it is 13ms/7/ms typical. At first, this bothered me. But, I can see no ghosting on the screen, and I like the...
Strengths: Design, performance, dual-input, and design!
Weakness: No Mac software support. Tilt/pan adjustment could have allowed higher elevation, and more iMac-like ease...
Just wanted to clarify some points about this display's controls, mentioned in the previous posts. The elegantly designed monitor has only one physical button, which is touch- (or heat- ?) sensitive, and it controls three functions. Everything else, including brightness, is controlled via the included Windows-only software. * Touch the button once (1 beep): The most frequently used function --...
Strengths: Design , Outstanding Color & Contrast , DVI , No Ghosting
Weakness: 25ms , Little dark in games ( Far Cry )
WOW , The best one that i see , Beautiful Design ( mine is Black ), Great Color & Contrast ( The black is realy black ) , No Ghosting , No Bad Pixel ...... Everything is graet ! Before 173p i had a 172x , the 172x is great for gamers ( 12ms ) but the color & contrast was not that i want !! also the 172x had ghostnig in edges & in angles was brighter ...... then i bought the 173p , know this is...
Strengths: Bright; silver cyber-look; digital auto-adjustment; heat-sense power switch (woo--! surprised when turned on the 1st time); 270 rotation Pivot (crazy!); opt. contrast @ 1280x1024 (CLEARER than CRT!).
Weakness: (spent 30 mins to think of some..) Not so sure rather it is a weaknesses: It has no switch except the power. Honestly, it automatically adjust the opt setting, no need manual switchs. :)
I spent months on researching (more like studying) on LCDs b4 I grab this 173P. Samsung is a big brand. They are not the best, but the most valueable! You get the most out of dollars you spent! (In my case, even more than what I expected!!) The real product looks WAY BETTER than in the picture! The back of the LCD is in pearl-white like the new I-MAC, the front and the foot-stand is real sivler....
Sam sung? Sam sang? Whatever Sam did, he did it well. Way back in 1969, a little company by the name of SAMSUNG-Sanyo Electric was established (later merged into SAMSUNG Electronics). A year later the production of their first Black-and-white TV (model: P-3202) commenced. Fast forward to present day, the same anything-but-little company is around still making TV's and a slew of other household...

Strengths: Everything about the monitor is great.
Weakness: Who uses RGB anyways?
